Joel Felizes is a sociologist and member of the Department of Sociology at the University of Minho since 1990, having carried out his doctoral research on Portuguese local government (2005).
His research focuses on the sociology of power, the sociology of development and discourse analysis.
He has published some works, mainly on topics related to local government, local and regional development and European integration, has also collaborated on some research projects and planning initiatives.
