Assistant Lecturer in the Sociology Department in the Institute of Social Sciences at the University of Minho, José Machado gained his PhD in Sociology in 2009, in the field of Mathematics and Statistics for the Social Sciences. Currently serving as vice-director of the Sociology Department, his teaching focus include Quantitative Methods and Techniques, Demographic Studies, as well as Data Analysis using IBM SPSS Statistics and Amos.
As a researcher, Machado participates in several projects, in the area of Sociology of Health with particular emphasis on the European project SHARE.
