Júlia Vilhena Rodrigues is a researcher at the Communication and Society Research Centre (CECS/UMinho) as part of the CONCILIARE project, and a PhD candidate in Art Studies with a specialization in Film Studies at the University of Coimbra, in co-supervision with the School of Communication of the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (ECO/UFRJ). She develops practice-based research in migrant/diasporic cinema, postcolonial theory, and documentary practices. Júlia was awarded a PhD scholarship by FCT and also collaborates with CEIS20 (UC). She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Anthropology from the University of Brasília (UnB), a Film Directing diploma from the Darcy Ribeiro Film School, and a Master’s degree in Literature, Culture, and Contemporary Studies from the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro (PUC-Rio). In addition to her research activities, she works as an independent filmmaker and has experience in communication, translation, documentary production, and film curation.
