Júlio Arantes

Visiting researcher at the Centre for Communication and Society Studies at the University of Minho (CECS Uminho – Braga, Portugal), where he is carrying out post-doctoral research, with an emphasis on the Political Economy of Communication. He is an adjunct professor on the Journalism course at the Federal University of Alagoas, where he is one of the leaders of the Critical Political Economy of Communication research group (Cepcom/Ufal – CNPq). He is treasurer of Ulepicc-Brasil in the We, Ulepicc-Brasil administration (2022-2025). As well as the political economy of communication, he is also interested in research into cultural and communicational work, public policies, human rights, alternative media, language and discourse. He is the author of the books Trabalho e Autogestão na perspectiva da Comunicação (Appris) and O Discurso da Democratização da Comunicação (Edufal). He has worked as a journalist for over 15 years in radio, television and press relations.
