Luzia de Oliveira Pinheiro holds a Ph.D. in Communication Sciences and a Master’s degree in Sociology from Universidade do Minho. Since 2007 she has been studying the phenomena of bullying and cyberbullying in adolescents and adults, and was the author of the theses: “Bullying: the profile of the victim” (2007), “Cyberbullying in Portugal: a sociological perspective” (2009) and #Cyberbullying and Cyberstalking” (2016), the latter funded by FCT (SFRH/BD/2009/62013).
She is a reviewer of Cogent OA, ICA (International Communication Association), International Journal of Communication, Canadian Journal of Communication, Ad Hoc reviewer of the International Journal of Hyperconnectivity and the Internet of Things (IJHIoT). CyberTech Publishing.

From a research point of view, she studies the sociology of violence, sports and social networks, development policies and digital culture, among other areas.
