PhD in Communication Sciences from the University of Minho. Master’s in Communication Sciences – Media and Journalism Studies from Universidade Nova de Lisboa. Postgraduate in Media Law from the Faculty of Law of the University of Lisbon. Degree in History from the State University of Feira de Santana (Brazil).
Her research centres on media studies, culture and community communication.
She works as a consultant and project manager in the creative and social economy, with a special focus on communication, culture, cinema, social development and human rights. She is also a writer and screenwriter, and has won three documentary script awards, two awards for directing and presenting television programmes from the Brazilian Ministry of Culture, and a radio script award from the Cinemateca Brasileira.
She has experience in producing content for the press, radio, webradio and television, and has also worked as an international correspondent. She was Director of Broadcasting for the Government of the Federal District (Brazil), when she ran Rádio Cultura FM in Brasília. In a partnership with Empresa Brasil de Comunicação (EBC), she was part of the working group responsible for the Brazilian Digital TV interactivity project, coordinating and supervising the scripts for fiction series.
In the area of communication as a human right, she was a member of the founding social organisations of the Parliamentary Front for Freedom of Expression and the Right to Communication with Popular Participation, in the Brazilian Chamber of Deputies.
Between 2016 and 2024, in Portugal, she participated as a guest commentator on television and radio programmes, addressing the political and economic situation in Brazil.
