Mariana Soares has a degree in Criminology from the University of Maia (2019) and a master’s degree in Crime, Difference and Inequality from the Institute of Social Sciences of the University of Minho (2022).
From September 2019 to September 2021, collaborated with UICCC, at the University of Maia, on the project “Relationship between animal abuse and interpersonal violence”, coordinated by Professor Vera Duarte and Professor Susana Costa.
Currently (2023), is developing her PhD research in Sociology, entitled “Adolescence and the Mistreatment of Companion Animals: sociological portrait” at the University of Minho, with a PhD scholarship (ref. 2023.04343.BD) from the Foundation for Science and Technology.
Interests include juvenile delinquency, sociology of crime, social inequalities, interpersonal violence, and risk factors associated with violent behavior.
