Assistant Professor in the Department of Sociology, Institute of Social Sciences, University of Minho. She did a master’s degree in Anthropology (2000) and a PhD in Sociology (2008), from the University of Minho.
Develops research in the field of sociology of culture and, particularly, in the field of popular culture and cultural identity, cultural policies, national and European identity, migration and cultural diversity. In teaching, she currently dedicates herself to the areas of sociology of culture, sociology of power, cultural heritage and cultural diversity. She is a member of the executive board of the RN Sociology of Culture, of the European Sociological Association, and integrates the management of the UMCidades platform.
She is responsible for the research project “Festivity – Festa, cultural heritage and community sustainability. Research and communication in the case of Bugiada and Mouriscada de Sobrado” (2018-2022), financed by the Foundation for Science and Technology and FEDER. In this field of studies on intangible cultural heritage, she was a researcher responsible for the scientific study and preparation of the inventory request for the Festa da Bugiada and Mouriscada de Sobrado in the National Inventory of Intangible Cultural Heritage.
