Safaa Hamada has a PhD in Urban and Regional Planning from the University of Minho, Portugal and works currently as an assistant professor at the Department of Geography and Geomatics.

Hamada’s research interests are in urban and regional planning, rural planning, sectoral planning, site selection for solar energy studies, GIS, and Remote sensing. She has published articles regional planning in Jordan Valley, water resources in Jordan Valley, and natural characteristics for Jordan Valley, Changes in mainland Portuguese forest areas since the last decade of the XXth century, sectorial plan, using Delphi technic in planning, and Mapping of Solar Energy Potential in the West Bank, Palestine Using Geographic Information Systems.
