Sónia Silva is currently an Assistant Guest Professor at the University of Trás-os-Montes e Alto Douro, where she teaches Communication Theories, Sociology of Communication, Research Methodologies, Advertising and Public Relations and Protocol and Events Organisation. She has a PhD in Communication Studies: Technology, Culture and Society from the University of Minho (2020), in partnership with ISCTE-IUL, the University of Beira Interior and the Lusophone University of Humanities and Technologies.

Her doctoral thesis on “Communicating to be socially responsible: the role of communication in fulfilling the social mission of Portuguese public universities” received an honourable mention and was the 3rd in the contest Paquete de Oliveira Award for Doctoral Theses in Portuguese Universities 2021 Edition.

Between January 2020 and August 2021, she was a research fellow in the Factory of the Future project (Sub-project of ID&T Industrial Operations Management; research line – Team Management In Industrialization Projects) arising from the University-Industry consortium established between the University of Minho and Bosch Car Multimedia Braga.

Her research focuses on Organisational and Strategic Communication, Risk Communication, Crisis Communication, Leadership Communication, Team Management, Organisational Identity, Social Responsibility and Advertising and Public Relations.
