Isabel Macedo defends her PhD thesis in Cultural Studies

The doctoral exams in Cultural Studies (field of expertise in Communication and Culture) by Isabel Moreira Macedo will be held on March 20 (2:30 p.m.), in the ICS (Social Sciences Institute) Sala de Atos of the University of Minho, in Braga. The thesis is supervised by Rosa Cabecinhas, an Associate Professor in the Department of Communication Sciences at UMinho and a researcher in CECS, and is entitled  “Migrations, Cultural Memory and Identity Representations: Film Literacy in the Promotion of Intercultural Dialogue”.

The panel of examiners will be chaired by the ICS president, Helena Sousa, representing UMinho’s dean, and the following members:
– Manuel Joaquim da Silva Pinto, Full Professor at UMinho’s Communication Sciences Department (Institute of Social Sciences);
– Kenneth David Callahan, Senior Lecturer in the Department of Languages ​​and Cultures of the University of Aveiro;
– Joaquim Manuel Pires Valentim, Senior Lecturer of the Faculty of Psychology and Educational Sciences of the University of Coimbra;
– Sara de Jesus Gomes Pereira, Senior Lecturer at UMinho’s Communication Sciences Department (Institute of Social Sciences);
-Margarita Ledo Andión, Senior Lecturer at the Department of Communication Sciences at the University of Santiago de Compostela
