Registration is now open for the creation of an Improvisational Theater Group organized by the University of Minho.
The initiative, in partnership with the CECS Culture, Arts, and Communities research group, is led by Fabiano Assis, a professor and researcher whose work focuses on theatrical practices. The goal is to bring together students, faculty, and community members, regardless of their artistic experience, to create a space for collective creation, diversity, and connection through the language of theatrical improvisation.
The following skills will be addressed:
– acceptance of others’ ideas
– active listening
– creativity
– spontaneity
– group collaboration
The goal is to create a collaborative artistic experience (theater and music) that will culminate in a performance as part of the Recomeço Festival, an initiative organized by the Cultural Council of the University of Minho.
The proposal stems from research conducted using the language of Improvisational Theater in an educational context, which was awarded the IDEA UMinho 2025 Pedagogical Innovation Prize, and is now being expanded to this new context of community participation and artistic creation.
