Jorge Rafael Martins Garrido’s PhD Viva in Cultural Studies took place today, 27 January.
The thesis, supervised by João Sarmento, is entitled ‘Mozambique: democracy, culture and peace’ and was argued in the Hall of Acts of the Institute of Social Sciences of the University of Minho.
The jury, chaired by Felisbela Lopes, was made up of:
– Maria Rosa Soares Pedrosa Cabecinhas, Associate Professor with tenure at the Department of Communication Sciences of the Institute of Social Sciences of the University of Minho;
– José Fernando Bessa Ribeiro, Associate Professor with tenure at the Department of Sociology of the Institute of Social Sciences of the University of Minho;
– João Carlos Vicente Sarmento, Associate Professor with tenure at the Department of Geography of the Institute of Social Sciences of the University of Minho;
– João Luís Jesus Fernandes, Assistant Professor at the Department of Geography and Tourism of the Faculty of Letters of the University of Coimbra;
– Sheila Pereira Khan, Assistant Professor at the Lusófona University – University Centre of Porto and Integrated Researcher at CICANT – Research Centre in Applied Communication, Culture and New Technologies.
