Connecting Commutes: Partnership CECS and Braga 25

The Braga 25 Portuguese Capital of Culture’s artistic project, Trajetos Comunicantes (Connecting Commutes), began its official program on March 24th, which runs until November of this year. This is an initiative in partnership with the CECS and the Audire research group, and the other main partner is the Braga Public Transport Company (TUB), which has made a total of 12 vehicles available for the actions planned in the program.
Trajetos Comunicantes is an artistic project that chooses listening as a sensory practice that fosters reflection and experimentation. The proposal develops from concepts such as mobility, landscape, territory, community and public space, exploring the themes present in our daily lives as passengers and observers of the transformations in the fabric of the city and the periphery, paying special attention to the communities that are part of this universe.
The first proposals of the year include works by the radio art collective Mobile Radio (UK), the Brazilian experimental music duo Guache and Communication students from the University of Minho, as well as more than 80 sound pieces from around the world, which are the result of an international call for entries organized by Audire . During the month of April, other works created by elementary school children as part of a workshop organized by Binaural Nodar will also be included in this exhibition In May, Rádio Universitária do Minho will come on board for a broadcast on wheels. In July, two partnerships are planned as an extension, one of them to the Encontrarte Amares Biennial, with a performance by Guache. The program ends in November with the publication of written essays also from the international call for papers.

Until 28 September, the sound installation is underway – literally – with around 150 audio pieces, ranging from radio art to documentaries, conventional and experimental music, walks and soundscapes. This sound show is present in two vehicles, and it is also possible to access the same content on the platform created for this purpose by the Connecting Commutes project.
