Laura Neiva: New Doctor of Sociology

Laura Carvalho de Oliveira Neiva’s PhD exams in Sociology were held on 26 November at 1.30pm in the Sala de Atos.

The thesis, supervised by Helena Machado, is entitled Expectations of police officers about Big Data in the policing and criminal investigation system in Portugal.

The jury, chaired by Ana Paula Marques, was made up of:

– Helena Cristina Ferreira Machado, Full Professor, Department of Sociology, Institute of Social Sciences, University of Minho;

– Manuela Ivone Paredes Pereira da Cunha, Associate Professor with Aggregation, Department of Sociology, Institute of Social Sciences, University of Minho;

– Rafaela Patrícia Gonçalves Granja, Assistant Researcher, Communication and Society Research Centre, Institute of Social Sciences, University of Minho;

– Susana Soares Branco Durão, Associate Professor, Department of Anthropology, Institute of Philosophy and Human Sciences, State University of Campinas (UNICAMP), Brazil;

– Diana Catarina de Oliveira Miranda, Lecturer in Criminology, Faculty of Social Sciences, University of Stirling, Scotland.
