The masterclass “Europe for the Europeans” will take place on March 25th, at 2:30 p.m., at the Multimedia Center in the Institute of Education of the University of Minho.
Mariana Canotilho is the teacher invited to the masterclass, followed by a critical analysis with Samuel Silva, a journalist from Público and former student of ICS-UMinho, and Francisco Conrado, a CEC researcher and doctoral student in Communication Sciences.
This session comes in the context of a larger project developed by the Union of Journalists in partnership with the European Parliament. The Union has obtained a grant from the European Parliament to develop a project related to journalism and the European elections scheduled for 26 May. Thus, between January and May of this year, the Union of Journalists will promote a set of initiatives that encourage the debate on the European Parliament, between journalists and students of Journalism and Communication.
These initiatives include the provision – through an online platform – of information on the European institutions; by a debate on the role of the media in protecting democracy and in eliminating or promoting hate speech; by talks with Journalism and Communication students from six higher education institutions on the importance of the European Parliament elections; by an informative video on the importance of these elections; and by a photo contest.
