The first investigates tourism and climate change in protected areas in the North of Portugal and is coordinated by António Vieira. The second works on the experiences and expressions of children and young people on the media and is coordinated by Sara Pereira.
Initiative “7 days with the Media” returns in May
The 9th edition of the “7 Days with the Media” initiative will take place on the 3rd and 9th of May. Started in 2013, the initiative invites all citizens and institutions to create an action (workshop, webinar, video, presentation, podcast, game, etc.) with a focus on the media and its uses.
Felisbela Lopes at the RTP Opinion Council
Felisbela Lopes, a CECS researcher, is one of the new members of the RTP Opinion Council. On March 11, Parliament approved the names indicated by the political parties to be part of the advisory body of the public radio and television station.
CLICTOUR: a new CECS research project
CLICTOUR - Climate change resilient tourism in protected areas of Northern Portugal is the name of the new research project of the Communication and Society Research Centre, in partnership with NIPE - Centre for Research in Economics and Management. Coordinated by Rita Sousa (NIPE) and António Vieira (CECS), the project was approved within the framework of the Structured Projects for R&D&I, of the North 2020 Program.
bYou: new CECS project
On March 29, 2021, the project “bYou - Study of the experiences and expressions of children and young people about the media” started, financed by FCT (PTDC/COM-OUT/3004/2020).
Seminar “SHARE: the largest longitudinal project in Social Sciences in Europe”
On the 7th of April, at 2:00 pm, the Permanent Seminar for Research and Community will be held entitled "SHARE: the largest longitudinal project in Social Sciences in Europe". The scientific event has the participation of Alice Delerue Matos, Fátima Barbosa and Patrícia Silva.
Review the Interdisciplinary Seminar on interculturality and historical awareness
On the 12th of March, the Interdisciplinary Seminar on Interculturalities and Historical Awareness: Current Challenges for Citizenship, brought together several researchers to share experiences around studies on historical awareness, social representations, narrative, identity, cultural memory, practices and experiences in the education system, thinking about the current intercultural, transnational and global dimensions.

RLEC: Call for Papers | Inclusion of persons with disabilities. Policies, practices, research and narratives
This issue of the Revista Lusófona de Estudos Culturais/Lusophone Journal of Cultural Studies is structured around the themes identified in the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD). The main objective is to improve social awareness about disabilities; remove physical and behavioural barriers; and combat stereotypes and prejudices. In other words, promote the human rights of persons with disabilities, eliminate discrimination and inequalities in participation and access to opportunities in life, improve quality of life and foster full social inclusion.
Vista: permanent call for papers from the new CECS journal
With a permanent call for papers, Vista accepts proposals for original and unpublished academic papers on topics related to the objectives and scope of the journal, in the form of articles, visual projects, reviews and interviews. Articles can be submitted in English or Portuguese.
