In the coming months, the CECS will be the organiser of several congresses, also highlighting the organisation of the XIII of Sopcom in 2024.
The month of May began with the International Congress “Festivals, Cultures and Communities: Heritage and Sustainability”, on May 4, 5 and 6, followed by the International Congress “European Degree in Mediation: a new model for training mediators”, on May 18 and 19. The month ends with the co-organization of the Colloquium “José Craveirinha. Poet of Historical Reparation”, on 26 May.
Last April 13, in Lisbon, took place the official presentation of CECS as the host of the 13th Sopcom Congress dedicated to the theme “Communication, Cultures and Communities”.
The steering committee of the Communication and Society Research Centre (CECS) election was held last April 6. The A Lists were elected, by absolute majority, for the respective bodies they ran for.
To the Board of Diretors of the Communication and Society Research Centre (CECS) were elected Maria Madalena Costa Oliveira (Director), Luís António Martins Santos (Deputy Director) and António Avelino Batista Vieira (Deputy Director). Sara Teixeira Rego de Oliveira Balonas (Coordinator) and Francisco Silva Costa (Deputy Coordinator) were elected to coordinate the Communication, Territories, Organizations and Social Dynamics research group. Rita Maria Gonçalves Ribeiro (Coordinator) was elected for the Cultural Studies research group. Felisbela Maria Carvalho Lopes (Coordinator) and Alberto Teixeira de Sá (Deputy Coordinator) were elected for the Media and Journalism research group.

Three researchers of the CECS will conduct two Short Training Actions (STAs) for teachers, in the Braga-Sul Training Centre.
