Ana Duarte Melo, a CECS researcher, was elected to the International Council of the International Association for Media and Communication Research (IAMCR). The election results for the 2024-2028 period were announced yesterday by the association.
Passeio launches new category in the Gallery
Passeio, the CECS Urban Art and Culture platform, has just launched a new Category in its Gallery: "Reading the signs of the city". The first entry in this space is the publication of the micro-essay "Looking at the clotheslines and making a "place" out of them (in the style of Tuan)".

Launch of the Virtual Museum of Lusophony’s “Mónica Baldaque – Sapatos de Corda” Collection
This April, the Virtual Museum of Lusophony launches the virtual collection "Mónica Baldaque - Sapatos de Corda". The work exhibited on the Google Arts & Culture platform is centred on Baldaque's literary work: "Sapatos de Corda - Agustina". Mónica Baldaque is the daughter of Agustina Bessa-Luís (1922-2019), the Portuguese writer to whom the book is dedicated.
”Tell me about Freedom” debate and prize-giving for the “Tell me about April 25” competition at the Lúcio Craveiro da Silva Library
On the eve of the 50th anniversary of the Carnation Revolution, the bYou project and MILObs are discussing freedom with six young people from different parts of the country. In addition to the debate, the session organised as part of the "Tell me about April 25" competition will award the prizes to the six winners, chosen from the 129 submissions of sound and video productions.

SciComPt2024: Languages and voices for accessible science
The 12th Science Communication Congress - SciComPt2024 - dedicated to the theme ‘Languages and voices for accessible science’ will be held in Braga between 8 and 10 May. SciComPt2024 has around 250 participants and is organised in partnership with INL and the Centro de Ciência Viva. This meeting, which brings together scientists, researchers and science communicators, will debate the new challenges for Science Communication, from Artificial Intelligence to Open Science practices.
