CECS presents ECREA 2020 in Lugano

The seventh edition of the “European Communication Conference” in Lugano (Switzerland) was launched on 31 October, under the theme “Centers and Peripheries: Communication, Research, Translation”. During the conference, the Communication and Society Research Centre (CECS) publishes its proposal to receive the next edition of the conference in Portugal.
Helena Sousa, a researcher from CECS and president of the Institute of Social Sciences of the University of Minho, presents the details of the application for ECREA 2020, scheduled for October 2, 3, 4 and 5, 2020, with the theme “Communication and Trust: building safe, sustainable and promising futures”.

A year after the fires that rocked Portugal and after a weekend marked by the passing of the storm Leslie, the CECS think tank, Communitas, opened a debate on what may or may not have changed in institutions and in their degree of preparation, in the way spaces of expression of the citizenship were strengthened and in the journalistic coverage.

Diversity in the digital age

Last October 24, the Permanent Seminar of Communication and Culture Policies dedicated to the theme of radio and audiovisual was held. Manuel Fernández Sande, a Spanish researcher who gave the session, spoke about concentration and audiovisual diversity, pointing out the positive and negative aspects of the new digital era.
