For the Communication and Society Research Centre, 2018 was a very demanding year. On the one hand, the evaluation of the FCT had to be prepared. On the other hand, for four months, from January to April, a set of external constraints prevented the CECS from making any execution of funds. With around two hundred researchers (members, doctoral students and collaborators), the CECS activity has not failed to fulfill all its demands: intervention, research, publication and education.
Communitas’ Debate. Three years of Paris Accord: what changes?
On 12 December, another debate was held by the CECS think tank, Communitas. Three years after the Paris Accord, where is the fight against climate change? This was the theme of the debate with the participation of João Camargo, ICS climate change researcher at the University of Lisbon, Cláudia Pascoal, deputy executive director of the Institute of Science and Innovation for Bio-Sustainability at the University of Minho, and Jorge Leandro Rosa, an integrated researcher at the Institute of Philosophy at the University of Porto. More than 20 researchers from the Communication and Society Research Centre (CECS) from the University of Minho to Mozambique have contributed to strengthen ties between Portuguese-speaking countries and promote the development of Cultural Studies and Communication Sciences. The "Culture and Tourism" and "Lusocom" congresses were the motto for the presentation of numerous communications, the signing of cooperation protocols, the launch of the new volume of the journal Communication and Society and the conference proceedings of the XII Lusocom Congress, held in 2016 in the city of Praia in Cape Verde, the presentation of the documentary "No trilho de Malangatana", and also to gather for the first time the project team FCT/Aga Khan.Available new issue of Revista Lusófona de Estudos Culturais
