ECREA 2020: UMinho /CECS and ECREA sign protocol
The University of Minho (UMinho) and the main European Communication Science Research Association, European Communication Research and Education Association (ECREA), signed on October 3, at the Rectory of the University of Minho, the protocol of understanding on the organization of the 8th European Communication Conference. ECREA 2020 will take place at the University of Minho from 2 to 5 October 2020. The conference will be organized by the Communication and Society Research Centre (CECS).
Seminar on Food and Sustainability
October 16: World Food Day is the theme of the session that brings together researchers Cynthia Luderer and Paula Mascarenhas in a seminar on Food and Sustainability. The meeting will take place at the engineering auditorium (Gualtar campus) at 2 pm.

“Refugees and refugeedom in world history, 1945 to 1975” is the theme of the upcoming seminar organized by the Exchange project. International Seminar “Memory, Diversity and Identities: Challenges for Intercultural Relations in the 21st Century”
On November 5, at the University of Beira Interior, the International Seminar "Memory, Diversity and Identities: Challenges to Intercultural Relations in the 21st Century" will take place. The seminar aims to promote the sharing of scientific works and critical reflection on the role played by cultural, artistic and educational products in the reconstruction of cultural memory. It also aims to promote debate on the processes by which certain narratives are created and disseminated in society, as well as on the processes of reception of artistic, cultural and educational products, exploring the way that people (re)interpret them. The International Seminar "Memory, Diversity and Identities: Challenges for Intercultural Relations in the 21st Century" brings together an interdisciplinary team of Mozambican and Portuguese researchers, who carry out research under the project: "Memories, cultures and identities: how the past weights on the present-day intercultural relations im Mozambique and Portugal?" (FCT/AgaKhan). Admission is free, subject to prior registration until November 1st, via email: cultures_past_present@ics.uminho.pt

Felisbela Lopes and Leonete Botelho debating with the Portuguese President
Taking as starting point of the debate the book Marcelo, President every day (2019), Felisbela Lopes, CECS researcher and associate professor of UMinho, and Leonete Botelho, Público journalist and chairman of the Professional Portfolio Committee of Journalist, spoke with the President of the Republic on September 2, at the Belém Palace. The initiative was part of the Book Festival attended by about seven thousand people.

CECS researcher receives EUPRERA PhD Award for Excellent Doctoral Thesis
Evandro Oliveira, a CECS researcher, received an european award for best doctoral dissertation in the area of Public Relations. Awarded by the European Public Relations Education and Research Association (EUPRERA), in partnership with the Public Relations and Communications Association (PRCA) and International Communications Consultancy Organization (ICCO), this award aims to stimulate academic discussion and build knowledge in Communication Management throughout the Europe.
