Albertino Gonçalves recognized by Melgaço City Council
Albertino Gonçalves, researcher at the Communication and Society Research Centre and professor at the Sociology Department of the University of Minho, was awarded the Melgaço Municipality with the Citizen of Honor Medal.
Civic and historical responsibility of the Census in debate
On October 19th, the Library Lúcio Craveiro da Silva hosted a debate on the civic and historical responsibility of the Census, promoted by the Doctoral Program in Cultural Studies, in partnership with the Permanent Seminars of Communication and Diversity and Postcolonial Studies of the Communication and Society Research Centre.
”Ouvido Crítico” the MILObs on Antena1
In October, the "Ouvido Crítico" program, produced by the MILObs platform, had five editions devoted to themes such as Media Concentration, the return of the "Público na Escola" project, Media Literacy, RTP's children's news, Radar XS, and the use of technologies in the school context. The five programs broadcast by Antena 1 can now be listened to on podcast on the MILObs website.
CECS researchers provided postcolonial training to history teachers
“The narratives of history and postcoloniality. Myths, Concepts and Problems” was the generic title of two short-term training (ACD) actions, delivered by CECS researchers to 2nd and 3rd cycle History teachers (basic and unified), at the Schools Francisco de Holanda. The actions took place on October 9 and 10, between 5:30 pm and 8:30 pm, at the Teacher Training Center of the Francisco de Holanda Secondary School in Guimarães.

ECREA 2020: UMinho /CECS and ECREA sign protocol
The University of Minho (UMinho) and the main European Communication Science Research Association, European Communication Research and Education Association (ECREA), signed on October 3, at the Rectory of the University of Minho, the protocol of understanding on the organization of the 8th European Communication Conference. ECREA 2020 will take place at the University of Minho from 2 to 5 October 2020. The conference will be organized by the Communication and Society Research Centre (CECS).

Victoria Carrillo Durán in Doctoral Seminar on Communication in Higher Education Institutions
“Communication in higher education institutions: critical competence and sustainability” was the theme of the doctoral seminar that took place on October 16th, at University of Minho. At a meeting attended by several professors, researchers and students in the area of Strategic Communication, Victoria Carrillo Durán of the University of Extremadura presented the conference “The Role of Social Networking Sites (SNSs) in Building the Reputation of Higher Education Organizations (HEOs)”.
Andreia Durães wins Pina Manique Award 2019
CECS researcher Andreia Durães has just won the “Pina Manique Award. From the Enlightenment to the Liberal Revolution 2019” with the doctoral dissertation “Casas de Cidade: processo de privatização e consumos de luxo nas camadas médias urbanas (Lisboa na segunda metade do século XVIII e inícios do século XIX)”.
