
PolObs coordinates Participatory Cultural Mapping sessions in the Porto Metropolitan Area
The thirty-four Participatory Cultural Mapping sessions, scheduled for November and December 2025 and January 2026, are part of phase 2 of the methodology developed by PolObs within the scope of the project ‘Mapping the Metropolitan Cultural Sector’, conceived by Manuel Gama and with José Gabriel Andrade and Manuel Gama as Principal Investigators.
CONCILIARE Project and Braga 25 Portuguese Capital of Culture: What do we do with this? Thinking about colonial issues
CECS and the CONCILIARE – Confidently Changing Colonial Heritage project take part in the series of debates entitled “What Do We Do with This? Thinking about Colonial Issues”, which will take place in Braga on 20 and 21 November. The event invites reflection and discussion on colonial legacies and their continuing impact today.
ARTECH 2025
The 12th edition of ARTECH, the conference dedicated to digital and interactive arts, kicks off today, this year focusing on Media Arts cultures, communities and territories. It will bring more than a hundred researchers and artists to Braga between 26 and 28 November.

Following the recently completed E-Monitoring project, the book Crime and Technology: Controversial Presents, (Un)likely Futures has just been launched. The work comes at a time when the intersection between crime and technology is giving rise to increasingly intense and fundamental debates, although these are often scattered across the academic sphere.

New PhD in Cultural Studies: Pedro Cumbane
On 18 November 2025, at 9:30 a.m., in the Sala de Atos of the Institute of Social Sciences of the University of Minho, Pedro Elias Cumbane's doctoral examinations in Communication Sciences were held. The thesis, supervised by Susana Pimenta and Estevão Filimão, is entitled ‘Cultural Studies: a disciplinary area in Mozambique: contexts, protagonists and practices.’
New PdhD in Communication Sciences: Marina Silva
Marina Maria Soares Silva's doctoral examinations in Communication Sciences took place today, 17 November, at 10 a.m., in the Assembly Hall of the Institute of Social Sciences at the University of Minho. The thesis, supervised by Luís Santos, is entitled ‘Combating misinformation: the representations of primary and secondary school teachers as a basis for intervention.’
New PhD in Communication Sciences: Fernando dos Santos
Fernando Tadeu Pinto dos Santos' doctoral exams in Communication Sciences were held on 12 November 2025, at 2 p.m., in the Sala de Atos of the Institute of Social Sciences at the University of Minho. The thesis, supervised by Moisés de Lemos Martins and Jean Martin Rabot, is entitled ‘The Workers' Party (PT) in the face of Bolsonaro's offensive on social media since the 2018 Brazilian presidential elections.’
