Webinar Verse and Reverse: The Voice of Camões Across Generations
On June 9, at 5:00 PM (Lisbon time), the webinar “Verse and Reverse: The Voice of Camões Across Generations” will take place, organised by the Virtual Museum of Lusophony, from CECS (Communication and Society Research Centre, University of Minho), and CICANT (Research Centre for Applied Communication, Culture, and New Technologies, Lusófona University). The event aims to promote debate around the study of Camões across different generations, reflecting on the ways in which his work continues to be read and interpreted by new generations in contemporary times.

Digital Media Shadowing Democracy: Technology, Communication and Power – a new publication by Nordicom and EMRG
The latest publication from Nordicom, ‘Digital Media Shadowing Democracy – Technology, Communication, and Power’, is now available as open access. Helena Sousa, a full member of CECS and chair of the Regulatory Council of the ERC (Regulatory Authority for the Media), is one of the editors (alongside Auksė Balčytienė and Péter Bajomi-Lázár).
CONCILIARE Project launches the book “Living Memory and Media”
The book 'Living Memory and Media' (*Memória Viva e Media), edited by Rosa Cabecinhas, Luiza Lins and Isabel Macedo, has just been published in partnership between CECS and Húmus Editora. The publication is the result of research carried out as part of the MigraMediaActs and CONCILIARE – Confidently Changing Colonial Heritage projects. The book includes a selection of texts presented at the event “Migrations and Communication in the Planetary Age: Debates and Actions”, as well as contributions from associated researchers.
Visual Culture Seminar: “We’re Still Here: Providência Gallery”
The Visual Culture Seminar ‘We’re Still Here: Galeria Providência’ will take place on 1 June at 2.00 pm(PT)/10h00 (BR), featuring a presentation of the outreach project entitled “Galeria Providência and the CAC/FCS Laboratory: Favela and University working together to promote human and urban development through art”, which gave rise to the documentary "We’re Still Here: Galeria Providência" (Directed by: Cíntia Sanmartin Fernandes, Carla Leal Helal, Cristiane Carvalho Corrêa (Cris Carvalho) and Hugo Oliveira).
New PhD in Communication Sciences: Teresa Lima
The PhD Viva Teresa Arlete Martins Sousa Lima’s PhD in Communication Sciences took place on 15 May 2026 at 2.00 pm in the Lecture Hall of the Institute of Social Sciences at the University of Minho. The thesis, supervised by Zara Pinto-Coelho, is entitled “The discourses of Mr. Ego: chewing over Edgar Pêra”.
CECS celebrates its anniversary and European Doctoral Day
As part of the celebrations for European Doctoral Day and its 25th anniversary, CECS is organising a doctoral seminar specifically dedicated to sharing internationalisation experiences among PhD students from this research unit at the University of Minho. The session will be attended by students from doctoral programmes associated with CECS, who will be invited to speak about their mobility experiences.
