This debate is part of the presence of Brazilian researchers at the CECS, during the week of April 3-7, to participate in working meetings with the objective of the establishing of an agreement between CECS and UFMG, in order to develop a new partnership, similar to what happened between 2014 and 2015, in which both parts were the protagonists of the project FCT-CAPES entitled “Flow and death: theoretical and methodological challenges around the ‘media event'” coordinated in Portugal By Moisés de Lemos Martins and, in Brazil, by Paulo Bernardo Vaz.

CECS was the organizer of the III Minho-Galiza Meeting, that was hold on 1st April, in Tomiño, Spain. The event intended to promote the intercultural dialogue between North of Portugal and Galiza. Apart from CECS, there were other organizers: Galician Studies Research Centre and the Masters Degree in Communication, Art and Culture, all from the Universtiy of Minho. The meeting had the participation of four researchers from CECS: Albertino Gonçalves, Joaquim Fidalgo, Helena Pires and Rita Ribeiro.Moisés Martins presented the book “A Senhora de Maio”
The book "A Senhora de Maio. Todas as Perguntas sobre Fátima" was puresented in the Public Library of Braga (Lúcio Craveiro da Silva) on March 6. Organized by António Marujo and Rui Paulo da Cruz (both journalists), "A Senhora de Maio", which is edited by Temas e Debates/Círculo de Leitores, according to Moisés Martins, who presented the book, confirms Fátima as an ambivalent place.III Congress on Cultures – Interfaces of Lusophony: call for papers extended till April 30
CECS organizes the III Congress on Cultures - Interfaces of Lusophony, which will take place at the University of Minho, Braga, from November 23 to 25, 2017. The organizing committee invites the scientific community of social and human sciences, arts and letters , to participate in this meeting that crosses communication and cultures in the perspective of cultural and Lusophone studies. The CECS and the Operational Unit in Electronic Governance, of the United Nations University, will organize a seminar on "Civil Participation in Internet Governance" on April 5 (3:00 p.m.), in the amphitheater of the Escola de Engenharia [School of Engineering] (UMinho - Campus de Gualtar). The initiative is supported by the Sopcom (Portuguese Association of Communication Sciences) Economy and Communications Policy Working Group. The 2017 edition of the Congress Literacy, Media and Citizenship will gather more than 200 participants in an event on the theme "For a new awareness of public space". During the fourth edition of the LMC Congress, which will take place between May 5 and 6, at the Eng. António de Almeida Foundation in Oporto, a posthumous tribute will be made to José Manuel Paquete de Oliveira. In the opening session will be José Manuel Pérez Tornero, professor at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona [Autonomous University of Barcelona]. The three keynote speakers invited for the VII Annual Meeting of the Portuguese Association of Researchers on Moving Image are already confirmed. The meeting will be held by the University of Minho, between 10th and 13th May. Plenary sessions will count on the special participation of Catherine Grants, from the University of Sussex (UK), Ernest W. Adams, from the University of Uppsala (Sweden) and Kim Akass, from the University of Herfordshire (UK). On the International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination, March 21st, (sala de atos, at 2:30) a meeting entitled "Communication and Intercultural Mediation" was organized within the framework of the Permanent Seminar on Communication and Diversity. The Conference on "Relations between the Iberian Peninsula and Japan: from the 16th century up to now" was held on 7 and 8 March at the ILCH auditorium, in a joint organization of the Lusíadas Studies Center, Department of Asian Studies and CEHUM (ILCH), the Department of History and the CECS (ICS). The protagonists of the second session of the Doctoral Seminars 2016-2017, which took place on March 24 (10:30 am), in the ICS-UMinho sala de reuniões were Maria José Brites and Manuel Gama, both post-doctoral fellows FCT-CECS . Organized by the CECS and the Department of Communication Sciences of University of Minho, these seminars aim to improve students' methodological skills, promote reflexivity in supervising practices, and exchange experiences among researchers and between researchers and students.
