The session “On the Malangatana Trail: a conversation about a legacy for the world” will be held at the University of Minho’s Paço Gallery on September 22 at 6 p.m. The event is taking place simultaneously at the Matalana Cultural Centre (Maputo). Admission is free and online participation is guaranteed.
After speeches by the Director of the Virtual Museum of Lusophony, Isabel Macedo, and art historian Alda Costa, the documentary “On the Trail of Malangatana: From Legacy to Memory“, by Lurdes Macedo, will be screened.
Moderated by CECS researcher Rosa Cabecinhas, the conversation about the documentary will also include the President of the Malangatana Valente Ngwenia Foundation, Mutxhini Malangatana Ngwenia, and commentary by CECS researcher Sheila Khan. The final speech will be given by Moisés de Lemos Martins.
The session is organised by the Virtual Museum of Lusophony in partnership with UMinho’s House of Knowledge, Lusophone University’s CICANT and the Communication and Diversity Seminar. It also has the support of the MoMo Gallery in Johannesburg.
