New publication by Cristiane Venancio, visiting researcher at CECS

Cristiane Venancio is a lecturer and researcher at the Federal Rural University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRRJ). She has just completed her postdoctoral research in Communication Sciences at CECS and recently published the book “Organisational Communication Policy: a theoretical and practical proposal – For those who wish to build trusting relationships with their organisation’s stakeholders”. The book reflects on the possibility of contemporary organisations structuring their strategic relationships on the basis of a document – the Organisational Communication Policy (OCP).

In addition to the theoretical perspective, the book proposes a set of practical guidelines for developing an OCP. “The project came about when I was head of communications at the university where I work, in Rio de Janeiro. I wanted to draw up an OCP, but there were practically no references available. So, I studied the subject and put together a step-by-step proposal. It forms part of my doctoral thesis. One of the chapters has been adapted into this book,” explained the author. Teresa Ruão, a full professor in the Department of Communication Sciences at the University of Minho and a researcher at CECS, wrote the foreword.

To strengthen the link between theory and practice, part of the content is presented from a project management perspective. The book also includes various suggestions for text formatting, enabling organisations to adapt their writing to suit their needs.
