José Pedro Monteiro, a researcher at CECS, has just published the book The Internationalisation of the ‘Native Labour’ Question in Portuguese Late Colonialism, 1945–1962.
It is a Palgrave MacMillan edition that explores the impact of international changes and pressures on the Portuguese Empire after the Second World War. In the book, José Pedro Monteiro compares labour and social policies in the Portuguese Empire with those of other European colonies. He also examines the roles played by Portuguese authorities, international NGOs, diplomats and anti-colonialist activists.
