On 22 January 2026, at 2:30 p.m., João Lucas Moreira Pires’ doctoral examinations in Sociology were held in the Assembly Hall of the Institute of Social Sciences at the University of Minho. The thesis, supervised by Luís Cunha, is entitled ‘From the dissemination of information as an ambition for progress to the danger of hermeneutic collapse.’
The jury, chaired by Ana Paula Marques, was composed of:
– Elsa Sousa Costa e Silva, Associate Professor in the Department of Communication Sciences at the Institute of Social Sciences of the University of Minho;
– Antónia do Carmo Barriga, Assistant Professor in the Department of Sociology at the Faculty of Social and Human Sciences of the University of Beira Interior;
– Luís Cunha, Assistant Professor in the Department of Sociology at the Institute of Social Sciences, University of Minho;
– Daniela Monteiro da Silva, Visiting Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Philosophy and Social Sciences, Catholic University;
– Sérgio Marchiori, Specialist in Political Science from the University of São Paulo, Brazil.
