New research project : Ecologies of Care: Multispecies Design and Circular Community Economies in Peri-Urban Settings

The Communication and Society Resarch Centre  (CECS) is the Portuguese research partner in the new European consortium Ecologies of Care: Multispecies Design and Circular Community Economies in Peri-Urban Settings (EcoCare). The project is coordinated by Eindhoven University of Technology (TUE) and involves 19 partner institutions from various European countries.

With an expected duration of 36 months, EcoCare proposes a new paradigm for urban planning that is more biodiverse, inclusive and resilient. The aim is to influence policy-makers, professionals, local communities, activists, students and educators by providing knowledge and tools to integrate principles of biodiversity and circularity into urban practices, particularly in peri-urban contexts.

Portugal’s participation in the consortium is funded by the Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT), under the Driving Urban Transitions Partnership programme.

The CECS research team is coordinated by Daniel Brandão.
