On December 10, a guided tour and a round table discussion took place around the exhibition “The right over oneself: 150 years of the abolition of slavery in the Portuguese Empire”.
Between 5 p.m. and 6 p.m., the exhibition curators, Miguel Bandeira Jerónimo and José Pedro Monteiro, led a guided tour through the exhibition at the Galeria do Paço in Braga. The collection includes documents from the Torre do Tombo National Archives and the Overseas Historical Archive.
Between 6 pm and 8 pm, a round table discussed the exhibition’s topics and its legacies today and in the future. Professors Moisés de Lemos Martins, Helena Sousa, Rosa Cabecinhas, Luís Aguiar-Conraria and Deputy Beatriz Gomes Dias formed the round table.
