The Elements of Journalism in the New Information Universe

The Department of Communication Sciences and the Communication and Society Research Centre of the University of Minho host, between September 18 and December 4, the course “The Elements of Journalism in the New Information Universe”, with the journalist and North American guest professor, Walter Dean.

The course – to be taught in English – is organized into eight three-hour sessions, based on a professional training program inspired by the experiences of over 10,000 journalists and 200 news organizations from around the world.

Walter Dean has had management responsibilities at the Pew Center for Civic Journalism, has been linked to the Project for Excellence in Journalism, led training at the Committee of Concerned Journalists, and directs the University of Missouri School of Journalism summer program. In Portugal it has already developed training courses at the Impresa Group (Expresso, Visão and SIC).

Location, Dates and Time:
The sessions will take place at the MMII Laboratory of the Communication Sciences Department (Level 0, in the Institute of Social Sciences building), between 2:30 pm and 5:30 pm.
