The next session of the Permanent Seminar on Media Education – the last of this school year – is scheduled for June 7 at 2:30 pm in the meeting room of the UMinho ICS, in a session led by Pablo Andrada Sola. In CECS, he is developing a research part of his PhD project based on the Pompeu Fabra University (UPF), in Barcelona (Spain), under the title “Teacher training in Education for the Media in Early Childhood Education in Chile”, a theme that he will also bring into this seminar.
Description of the seminar: Children’s education was reinforced in the 1990’s from the neurosciences, which showed that children can have meaningful learning in the first years of life. This type of education, as a rule, is not the concern of media education specialists, and indeed future teachers – both elementary and secondary school teachers – are not prepared to teach media to their students. The seminar presents an investigation that aims to show how media education is incorporated in the education of pre-school students in Chile.
