Lecture “Sense of leisure to grow old” with Manuel Cuenca Cabeza

On December 3, at 3:00 p.m., in the Institute of Social Sciences of the University of Minho, there will be a lecture “Sense of leisure while growing old”. Manuel Cuenca Cabeza is the guest speaker.

Manuel Cuenca Cabeza is Professor Emeritus of the University of Deusto (Spain) and until 2011 he was director of the Institute of Leisure Studies at this university. In this center began the Studies of Leisure in the Spanish university.

His curriculum includes multiple books as well as numerous chapters of books and research articles related to the topic of leisure and education. Manuel Cuenca Cabeza is the author of the concept of Humanistic Leisure and author or coordinator of works such as Valuable Leisure, Leisure and Human Development and Leisure to Live the XXI century, among many others.

He was also responsible for the implementation of the EDIG Educational System and the Academy of the Children’s Language in the Gaztelueta School (Getxo – Vizcaya); by the coordination of the Cultural Conferences of the Faculty of FICE-Deusto for 10 years; by the foundation of the Institute of Leisure Studies and the Documentation Center ADOZ-Deusto; for the creation and direction of the Doctorate of Leisure and Human Development program; for the promotion and direction of the Chair of Leisure and Disability, among other activities.
