Patrícia Silva: new PhD in Sociology

The Ph.D. proceedings of Patrícia Maria Teixeira da Silva on Sociology was held on February 19, at 2:00 p.m., in the Institute of Social Sciences.

The thesis, supervised by Alice Matos and Roberto Martínez Pecino, has the title “Old Social Networks, New Means of Communication: the importance of Social Networks and the use of the Internet for the Quality of Life of 50+ year olds”.

The jury, chaired by Helena Sousa, was composed of:

– Albertino José Ribeiro Gonçalves, associate professor with aggregation of the Department of Sociology of the Institute of Social Sciences of the University of Minho;

– Inês de Oliveira Castilho and Albuquerque Amaral, associate professor in the Department of Philosophy, Communication, and Information of the Faculty of Arts and Humanities of the University of Coimbra;

– Patrício Ricardo Soares Costa, assistant professor of the School of Medicine of the University of Minho;

– Alice Maria Delerue Alvim de Matos, assistant professor in the Department of Sociology at the Institute of Social Sciences of the University of Minho;

– Rita Maria Gonçalves Ribeiro, assistant professor in the Department of Sociology at the Institute of Social Sciences of the University of Minho;

– Maria João Leitão Simões Areias Pereira, assistant professor in the Department of Sociology of the University of Beira Interior.

The candidate obtained the highest mark of this university: very good unanimously.
