“Podcasting: creation and listening practices” meeting

The research team of the “Audire” project and the coordinators of Sopcom’s WG on Radio and Sound Media invite students, teachers and researchers to participate in a meeting on podcasting, which will take place in Braga, at the University of Minho, on January 12, between 11 am and 5 pm. This initiative aims, first and foremost, to foster discussion about a format that has been growing in Portugal.

11h00-13h00:
Debate: “The expansion of the podcast”.

Special participation (also on-site): Luis Miguel Pedrero, from Universidad Nebrija, Madrid, Spain.

The keynote speaker will introduce the debate, comparing the slow transformation of radio with the rapid expansion of podcasts and identifying their nature, actors and dominant genres. Discussion will follow, with Débora López, from the Universidade Federal de Ouro Preto, and Ruben Martins, from the newspaper Público.

13h00-14h30: Lunch break

14h30-17h00: Round Table

This second-panel session will give participants the chance to make short presentations (5-6 minutes each) of the work in progress or problems for group discussion. The aim is to favour discussion rather than individual presentations. Each participant will be asked to provide a title for their presentation, to be included on their attendance certificate. The Pecha-Kucha model may be used as a reference.

17h30-19h00:

Workshop: Podcast production, with Ruben Martins (Público). The participation is limited to 15 participants.

Registration: Free of charge.

Please indicate/confirm your intention to participate, by sending an email to audire@ics.uminho.pt
