Public policies and media economy in debate at PolObs

The Observatory for Science, Communication and Culture Policies (PolObs) promotes the Permanent Seminar “Media Policies, Regulation and Economy: issues and research axes”, on May 18th, at 5pm.

The guests of this seminar, Elsa Costa e Silva (CECS/UMinho) and Miguel Poiares Maduro (Chair of the European Digital Media Observatory) reflect on the regulation policies and sustainability of the media in Portugal. The meeting will also present and discuss the mapping of research areas in the field of Media Policies, Regulation and Economy in Portugal, carried out by the coordination of Sopcom WG with the collaboration of several researchers.

Elsa Costa e Silva is PhD in Communication Sciences and Assistant Professor at the Institute of Social Sciences of the University of Minho. She researches in the areas of Political Economy of Communication and Media Regulation.

Miguel Poiares Maduro is a Doctor in Law, a specialist in European Union Constitutional Law and a university professor at the European University Institute. He is former Minister of State and Regional Development, in charge of Social Communication.

The session will take place via Zoom.
