CECS Excellence Award for PhD theses in Communication Sciences, Cultural Studies and other Social Sciences held at the University of Minho

The competition for the award of excellence, awarded by CECS, to doctoral thesis held at the University of Minho, in Communication Sciences and Cultural Studies, in the 2016-2018 triennium is open.

The awarding of the prize has as its fundamental objectives to enhance the PhDs carried out in the framework of the CECS, giving them public and media visibility, to promote the publication of works of excellence; and promote the career development of young researchers. Other thesis in the area of ​​Social Sciences may be submitted to the contest, guided by integrated researchers from CECS.

The thesis presented in the contest were approved in the three years prior to the award, being selected by the coordinators of the CECS research groups (Media and Journalism, Cultural Studies and Communication, Organizations and Social Dynamics). The coordinators of the CECS research lines are involved in the thesis selection process, which will be presented to the jury’s deliberation.

Contest calendar:
– December 31: deadline for the submission of theses to the contest;
– 31 January: deadline for the distribution of an electronic copy of the theses by the members of the jury appointed by the CECS Board;
– May 15: deadline for jury deliberation meeting;
– May 31: Deadline for the announcement of the results of the contest.

Prizes will be presented at a solemn ceremony, with a date to be set by the CECS management.
