Sara Pereira coordinates a project in the area of Media and Communication, which has just been approved for funding by FCT.
On 6 November, the Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT) released the results of the IC&DT Project Call in all scientific domains. To this call, the Communication and Society Research Centre (CECS) submitted 18 applications in the areas of Communication, Sociology, Geography and History, all of which were considered eligible and obtained a good evaluation. However, of these applications, only four were approved for funding, all in the area of Communication.
“Study on children and young people’s experiences and expressions of the media” is the title of the CECS project that was approved for funding, with the coordination of Professor Sara Pereira, with the University of Minho being the proposing institution.
Two other applications approved for funding are also coordinated by researchers who are part of the centre’s team.
Professor Inês Amaral coordinates the project “Mediated by young adults’ practices: advancing gender justice in and across mobile apps”, with the University of Coimbra being the proposing institution. And CECS collaborating researcher, Pedro Jerónimo, coordinates the project “MediaTrust.Lab – Local Media Lab for Civic Trust and Literacy”, with the proposing institution being the University of Beira Interior.
According to the FCT, “this financing contributes to the consolidation and strengthening of the National Scientific and Technological System, as a priority of the national science and technology policy, in a transversal way to all scientific areas”, being 17.9%, of the recommended projects for financing the Social Sciences domain and 7.1% of the Humanities.
