PhD Viva of João Pires

João Lucas Moreira Pires’ doctoral examinations in Sociology will take place on 22 January 2026, at 2:30 p.m., in the Sala de Atos of the Institute of Social Sciences of the University of Minho. The thesis, supervised by Luís Cunha, is entitled ‘From the dissemination of information as an ambition for progress to the danger of hermeneutic collapse.

The jury, chaired by Ana Paula Marques, is composed of:

Elsa Sousa Costa e Silva, Associate Professor in the Department of Communication Sciences at the Institute of Social Sciences of the University of Minho;
Antónia do Carmo Barriga, Assistant Professor in the Department of Sociology at the Faculty of Social and Human Sciences at the University of Beira Interior;
Luís Cunha, Assistant Professor in the Department of Sociology at the Institute of Social Sciences at the University of Minho;
Daniela Monteiro da Silva, Visiting Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Philosophy and Social Sciences of the Catholic University;
Sérgio Marchiori, Specialist in Political Science from the University of São Paulo, Brazil.
