Pedro Elias Cumbane’s doctoral examinations in Communication Sciences will take place on 18 November 2025, at 9:30 a.m., in the Sala de Atos of the Institute of Social Sciences at the University of Minho. The thesis, supervised by Susana Pimenta and Estevão Filimão, is entitled ‘Cultural Studies: a disciplinary area in Mozambique: contexts, protagonists and practices.’
The jury, chaired by Felisbela Lopes, is composed of:
– Rosa Cabecinhas, Associate Professor with Aggregation from the Department of Communication Sciences of the Institute of Social Sciences of the University of Minho;
– Emília Araújo, Associate Professor with Aggregation in the Department of Sociology at the Institute of Social Sciences of the University of Minho;
– Rita Ribeiro, Associate Professor in the Department of Sociology at the Institute of Social Sciences of the University of Minho;
– Susana Pimenta, Assistant Professor in the Department of Literature, Arts and Communication at the University of Trás-os-Montes and Alto Douro;
– Estevão Filimão, Assistant Professor in the Faculty of Cultural Studies at the Higher Institute of Arts and Culture, Mozambique.
