PhD Viva of Mariana Carvalho Soares

Mariana Carvalho Soares’s PhD Viva in Sociology will take place on 28 April 2026 at 10.00 am in the Sala de Atos of the Institute of Social Sciences at the University of Minho. The thesis, supervised by Vera Duarte and José Cunha Machado, is entitled “Adolescence and the mistreatment of companion animals: a sociological portrait”.

The examination board, chaired by Ana Paula Marques, comprises:

– Susana Silva, Associate Professor in the Department of Sociology at the Institute of Social Sciences, University of Minho;

– José Cunha Machado, Assistant Professor in the Department of Sociology at the Institute of Social Sciences, University of Minho;

– Mauro Paulino, Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Health Sciences, European University;

– Susana Marques, Research Assistant at the Centre for Social Studies, University of Coimbra
