[Children circulation in Southern Europe: the case of ‘expostos’ in Oporto of 18th century]
Book extract
“After the publication, in 1960, of”L’enfant et la vie familiale sous l’Ancien Regime”, a lot of research has been published under the subject of the Children History. We owe to Philippe Ariès the “invention” of this discipline; all the authors that have been studying this subject have here a mandatory reference, although among them it is possible to observe different approaches. Nevertheless, the contribution of Ariès is outstanding in this regard, by reclaiming that the relationship between children and parents have been shifting throughout the years”.
