As diverse as it is spread across the globe, the Lusophone world is a space of cultural plurality. This extensive linguistic territory combines the heritage of a past of discovery with the present experience of historical reinterpretation. Taking communication as the process by which community is made – in the sense of what is common, even in divergence or derivation – this volume of the Anuário Internacional de Comunicação Lusófona [International Yearbook of Lusophone Communication], which bears the triple seal of Lusocom, Sopcom and CECS, brings together contributions from the four continents where Portuguese is spoken, as well as a language of thought and knowledge production. From Brazil to East Timor, the authors taking part in this edition for the 2023-2024 biennium reflect on features that make the plural lusofonias and the proposal of decoloniality the key to thinking about the field of communication in the Portuguese-speaking geo-political-cultural space.
