The collection of citizen data has increased exponentially, driven by advances in multiple digital technologies. This phenomenon creates a paradigm of surveillance and control that affects various social spheres and has broad social, economic, and political implications (Aradau & Blanke, 2022; Zuboff, 2020). This growth has a particular impact on suspicious and criminalised populations (Aas, 2006). Data collection in the contexts of cross-border control, criminal investigation, and the enforcement of measures and penalties in the criminal justice system presents a series of idiosyncrasies that require critical analysis and rigorous public scrutiny, as they directly affect fundamental rights such as freedom, the presumption of innocence, privacy, and data protection (Lyon, 2018) .
