Seminar “Attention-Grabbing, Conspiracy Theories and Explanatory Journalism in Digital Platforms: Environment and Science”

The Seminar “Attention-Grabbing, Conspiracy Theories and Explanatory Journalism in Digital Platforms: Environment and Science” will be held, on May 20 at 9:30 am, in the Sala de Atos of the Institute of Social Sciences of the University of Minho.

This seminar will address concerns related to the attention-grabbing phenomena in digital networks against the backdrop of Conspiracy Theories, Fake News and the challenges of explanatory journalism on environment and climate change topics in particular and science in general.

The scientific event will have the contributions of Luisa Martinez-Garcia, professor and researcher at the Autonomous University of Barcelona and expert in Fact-Checking and Conspiracy Theories, and Alice Balbé, a researcher at the CECS, who will relate the phenomenon of digital platforms and the environment.

The seminar, held in the scope of the “Engage for SDG” project, will also count on the participation of the project coordinators, Edson Capoano and Pedro Rodrigues Costa.
