The Seminar on Communication and Diversity dedicated to the theme “Research and Practices in media narratives, historical consciousness and education: dialogues and challenges” will be held on May 4 at 2.30 pm in the Casa do Conhecimento – Paço Gallery of the University of Minho.
This meeting is organised in the scope of the MediaMigraActs project “Migrations, media, and activisms in the Portuguese language: decolonizing media landscapes and imagining alternative futures”, hosted at the Communication and Society Research Centre (CECS), in partnership with the Virtual Museum of Lusophony, the Seminar on Communication and Diversity and the Knowledge Houses Network.
The event counts the participation of Carlos Alberto de Carvalho (University of Minas Gerais, Brazil), Giane Lessa (Federal University of Latin American Integration, Brazil), Julia Alves Brasil (CECS, University of Minho, Portugal), Manuel Chaparro (University of Malaga, Spain) and Olga Bailey (Nottingham Trent University (United Kingdom).
After the seminar, the round table discussion “‘We only exist because we reinvent ourselves’: the creativity fundamental to the Brazilian experience in Portugal”, with the participation of Gessica Borges and Rodrigo Saturnino (CECS, University of Minho), and the short film screening Cinema Brasil (Seremos ouvidas, Larissa Nepomuceno, 13′; Paulo Galo: A thousand faces of a loyal man, Iuri Salles and Felipe Larozza, 19′), followed by a debate streamlined by Ana Cristina Pereira (CECS, University of Minho), a partnership with Festival Política, which takes place in Braga between May 4 and 6 in Braga.
The seminar will be broadcast online, and event admission is free.
