Permanent Seminar with and for the Society on Environmental Journalism

Another session of the Permanent Seminar With and For Society took place on June 20. Eloisa Loose was the guest of this edition and presented the communication “Research in Environmental Journalism in Brazil: panorama and challenges”.

Eloisa presented the panorama of environmental journalism in Brazil in newsrooms and in scientific research itself. For this, it started from studies developed in the last 10 years within the scope of the Environmental Journalism Research Group.

The researcher from the Federal University of Santa Maria, who has done a doctoral degree at CECS, took the opportunity to highlight the development and trends of research in the area, as well as its gaps. It also sought to analyze the results of the last research conducted by the group, based on the perceptions of journalists covering the environment in Latin America, the Caribbean, Portugal and Spain. In this study, she highlighted the challenges of practice and the professionals’ reports on the context of environmental coverage currently.

At the end, Eloisa announced the call for papers for the IV National Meeting of Researchers in Environmental Journalism, to be held on September 27 and 28, at the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil.
