Permanent Seminar Science with and for Society on “Science in the Theatre”

The Permanent Seminar Science with and for Society on “Science in the Theatre” will take place on April 7, at 5:00 p.m., via Zoom. Manuel João Monte, from the University of Porto, is the guest speaker.

Manuel João Monte is an associate professor at the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry of the Faculty of Sciences of the University of Porto, where he has lectured since 1980. In 2021, he wrote the play “Que Coisa é o Mundo”, with Sofia Miguens. He translated the plays “Ciência-no-Teatro – Oxigénio”, by Carl Djerassi and Roald Hoffmann, and “Falácia”, by Carl Djerassi into Portuguese. In 2019, he wrote the play “O Bairro da Tabela Periódica” (awarded in 2021 with the José Mariano Gago Award of the Portuguese Society of Authors) and in 2020 the play “Arsenicum”.
Retired in August 2019, he is currently a visiting associate professor. He coordinates the Molecular and Supramolecular Thermodynamics research group of the Chemistry Research Centre of the University of Porto (U.Porto), and has published over 100 scientific papers in international peer-reviewed journals.
